Why Study International AS & A Level Information Technology?

The International AS & A Level Information Technology course encourages you to become effective and discerning user of IT. It helps you to develop a broad range of IT skills, knowledge and understanding.

You will study the structure and use of IT systems within a wide range of organisations, including the use of a variety of computer networks. As a result, you will gain an understanding of IT system life cycles, and how these affect the workplace. You will also learn about the wider impact of IT on society in general. At A Level, you will also study simple programming for the web relevant to your own use of IT. (Cambridge Assessment International Education, n.d.)

Prior requirements and hours of study

International AS Level Information Technology requires about 180 hours of study, and International A Level Information Technology requires about 360 hours of study. These figures are for guidance only. The number of hours needed may vary depending on your previous experience of the subject.

We recommend that students who are beginning this course should have previously completed an International GCSE course in Information and Communication Technology.

Grade B/6 or above in Information and Communication Technology at IGCSE (or equivalent) is required before starting International AS & A Level Information Technology. It is also necessary that all A-Level students have IGCSE English Language or the equivalent at Grade C/4 or above.
